Harpreet is a professor of Interaction Design, a field that usually investigates relationships between people and products. Harpreet’s practice, however, focuses on people’s interactions with plants; he creates plant technologies and bio-digital hybrids. His research challenges us to reconsider what nature really is — and its role in fundamentally redesigning our technologies.
He is a professor in New York, a Fellow at the Berggruen Institute — a think tank in Los Angeles, Director of Synthetic Ecosystems Lab and has served as advisor to startups and governments. He graduated from the MIT Media Lab, and has worked in museums and research centers in Bangalore, Singapore, Austria, Japan and France. Harpreet grew up in Punjab, and is not only inspired by potentials of technology but by how nature is viewed and revered in cultural histories of India and across Asia.
